ACCES, a venue-association gathering 110 members, has for 12 years been working to structure the sector and establish associations and regional authorities in the Autonomous Communities of Spain. ACCES is considered as the unique spokesman by the Spanish Government and is also a part of the State Council of Music in the Ministry of Culture. ACCES was founded to solve problems such as the lack of cultural recognition of the music venues’ activities and the fragility of licenses. ACCES organises seminars and workshops dealing with musician remuneration, social security, sound management, digital communication and audience development. The situation of music venues in Spain is particular since Spain has the greatest number of small music venues with the lowest average capacity (<390), and low subsidies incomes, which reflect the lack of recognition of those venues as cultural stakeholders.
