They talk about us

Institutions must recognize that we do important work for culture in general and for the development of young artists in particular. And yes, recognition needs also to come from the citizenship. Sometimes people pass by a club and think that strange or dangerous things happen there. And it is...

Miguel Tudanca - (Madrid (Spain) )

I would say that cooperation is a success story. The important question is, at which levels and with whom you cooperate. If you always do it all by yourself, it is unlikely that you will reach many people. Of course, there are people who realize that they are doing...

Gunnar Geßner - (Hannover (Germany) )

For me, Live DMA is a fantastic place to share and gain knowledge, exchange ideas and get inspiration from fellow European colleagues. We have common challenges that we together are in a better position so solve.

Anders Tangen - (Oslo )

I strongly believe that we must defend a European spirit, especially in these moments in which some evil forces are attacking a philosophy of life in which music, its enjoyment and its diffusion are a magnificent tool to defend cultural diversity and freedom of expression.

Armando Ruah - (Madrid )

It’s important that music can be recognized as a tool of “being together” at first. Live DMA has the duties not to forget social and cultural aspects of the music sector.

David Dehard - (Brussels )

Live DMA’s vision is that decision makers, the whole scene and the broad public see the role that clubs and festivals play in the whole ecosystem.

Isabelle Von Walterskirchen - (Zürich )

For the first time, the new @europe_creative funding programme will have a specific focus on the music sector, particularly in the fields of contemporary and live music. This is the result of years of advocacy, discussion, experimentation and research work at EU level (1/8)

🎶 Read this committed quote from the Finnish du 🎶 Read this committed quote from the Finnish duo @vildaduo on how crucial live music events are for artist's revenue and development:

👩‍🎤 👩‍🎤 ”Live performances are a lifeline for us as global musicians and performers. We are playing around the world mostly in the world and folk music scene. It’s common for artists in a marginal scene such as ours that the live concerts and gigs are at the main focus and also the most important source of income. Streaming seems not to be our nor our audience’s cup of tea - our albums are almost only sold during live performances! We are trying to stay active on social media and work so that our music would reach both new and old audiences also during this difficult period of no live events. But no matter how much we publish new music videos and chat online with our fans, there is no such straight communication as on the live gigs where we can truly transmit experiences and feelings to the listeners and in exchange feel their feedback instantly on the stage. What would life be without live music?”

📣 "It's probably no surprise to hear that live music and the community they offer are very very important to us. Some of our earliest gigs in Brighton and London at venues like @greendoorstore , @thehopeandruin and The Windmill were vital for getting our name out there but more importantly letting us figure out what kind of band we wanted to be. Some of our earliest gigs were pretty bad, but these venues let us perform regardless as we clumsily "found our sound". Not only this, but the social aspect to independent venues is also so incredibly important. I've met some of my best friends at music venues, mainly because they're usually spaces where I can be myself and are (usually) full of people who I can get on with."

🎶 "I think live music is a huge part of what makes music so important and play such a big role in many people's lives. There's few things that are as powerful as watching your favorite band play live in a crowd of like-minded people - all focusing on the same thing. I've had almost heavenly experiences at concerts."
