Petzi founded in November 1996 is the umbrella association of Swiss music clubs and festivals representing the interests of currently more than 175 members, working for a cultural and non-profit goal – the development of popular music. The Association relies primarily on the voluntary work of its committee – and working group members. Two offices (in French- and German-speaking Switzerland) coordinate activities and encourage collaboration and information exchange between the clubs and festivals. This takes place through meetings, networking-tools, public conferences, relations with cantonal and national authorities. Petzi do also follow the issues that are specific to club-culture, youth-culture, nightlife and live music and lobbies actively for those topics on behalf of its members by organising conferences, events, projects, etc. Petzi collaborates with organizations and partners pursuing similar goals at the national and international level. Petzi is supported by the Federal Office for Social Security.
