Officially founded in 2001, ASACC is today gathering 60 music venues in Catalonia. Beyond the support, promotion and call for cultural recognition of the concert venues, it was by the birth of ASACC in the industry needed to achieve fairness in the application of laws and regulations affecting the music venues. Legislative changes were necessary to foster any development of the situation, hence ASACC worked on a “Welcome Campaign” and succeeded in rehabilitating the venues, and modifying the ordinance that allows live music in music bars. ASACC is working closely with Government of Catalonia and with the city council of Barcelona. Located in one of the most culturally dynamic and attractive cities, the association’s work relates to specific issues on urban development, Music Cities, cultural tourism, and the connection between seasonal festivals and music venues’ activities.
